A New Place to Play

Parks, especially neighborhood parks, provide wonderful benefits (ex: environment and physical benefits) for the community. There are thousands of parks with various activities, such as sports fields, an open grass area, playground sets, and so much more. It is more likely for a family with kids to move into a neighborhood with a park nearby. Some people even base neighborhood livability off of the park's quality. For example, if a neighborhood park is dirty and worn down, it is less likely for people to move there. On the other hand, if many kids play at the park and it is well kept then a family with children would be more likely to move to that neighborhood.

It is great for young children to grow up near a neighborhood park. Backyard play-sets limit children's imagination and socialization, while a neighborhood park helps expand these skills. Whenever I think of my favorite park I get a happy feeling. I remember the times when I got to play on the play-sets with my brother, run in the splash pad during the summer, take walks along the river with my mom, and dance my heart out on the stage.

To be honest, I still go to my favorite park. In fact, I had my high school graduation party there. Being at that park for my graduation party was a full circle moment for me. I grew up and spent some of my best childhood memories at that park. High school graduation typically is a symbol for the ‘end of childhood.’ It was great that I was able to celebrate the ‘end of my childhood’ at a place that had a huge impact on my life.

People will gain many health benefits from the neighborhood park. Neighborhood parks have easy access for people to go out and be physically active whenever they want. There are so many activities one is able to do at a park: run, walk, catch, street, go on play-sets. Whenever I need to destress I like to exercise. I go on walks outside and listen to music. Every time I am at the park I am carefree and just having fun. Being outside in nature always puts my mind at ease.

People will get to interact and meet new people in the neighborhood. The parks may even bring the community closer together. Nature gives us wonderful qualities to help improve the neighborhood. Overall, the neighborhood park is a great place where people can be surrounded by nature, get fresh air, exercise, and interact with their neighbors.
